Defence CIDA

This section aims to give you a full understanding of the Defence CIDA Organisational structure, the divisions of responsibility and the roles of the people involved. You will also gain knowledge of the Configuration Management model, the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process and be able to apply CIDA service levels to MOD facilities.   Return to top

Installation Standards

This section aims to clarify the Publications and Standards that you will be faced with on a regular basis. You will develop a broad knowledge of the MoD Publications that mandate your working practices and Industry Standards that provide the technical criteria that are applied.

You will gain the confidence to interpret these Publications and Standards in order to reach logical solutions to problems that may occur in the project environment.   Return to top

Information Security (InfoSec)

This section starts with a review of who's who in Defence security, their job roles and responsibilities and levels of interaction with your own role.

Delegates will be guided through the relevant security publications and gain experience in applying the correct rules for the Separation, Isolation and Filtering of protectively marked systems.   Return to top

The CIS Physical Environment

Delegates will examine the range of specifications and Standards used within the CIS physical infrastructure.

The scope of subjects covered in this section include equipment cabinet specifications; cable management; fire related issues; fibre-optics; structured wiring and outside plant.

Delegates can expect to gain a broad knowledge of the Network structure and the Standards that govern it's design and quality assurance.   Return to top

The CIS Electrical Environment

Delegates will gain a knowledge of the regulations and practices for electrical installations in support of MoD communications equipments.

You will consider some significant principles for electrical supply to equipment racks along with various bonding and earthing issues.    Return to top

Hot Topics are a series of case studies surrounding CIS issues that arise regularly within Defence.
