Schools energy education programme

Since 2003, we’ve been working in primary schools to promote energy efficiency. Around 60 primary schools have taken part in the programme and our experts have encouraged more than 10,000 primary school children to become more energy and water efficient. Our team works with the schools and the pupils themselves to develop lessons that complement the national curriculum.

The programme originally began in Oxfordshire, but it is now being rolled out to other local education authorities.

In 2007 the scheme came top of the class in the National Energy Efficiency Awards. While presenting the accolade to our team, the judges commended the way that Atkins, as a very large company, was able to work at a local level.

Looking to the future, the team behind the education programme want to work with secondary schools and those for children with learning difficulties.
