Health & safety
There are many potential hazards associated with the services we provide and the areas in which we work. We therefore aim to lead the H&S agenda in all markets and countries where we operate.
We believe we have a duty to provide safety leadership across our range of services, over and above compliance with local legislation, safety standards or other specific client requirements.
We work to ensure that the principle of safety leadership is firmly embedded in our business. This involves promoting continual improvement in operational health and safety risk reduction as well as supporting safety in design.
We strive to:
- continually improve our performance, setting objectives and targets within our business strategy
- provide resources and training to manage our impacts effectively
- comply with safety legislation, codes of practice, and client-specific requirements
- ensure safety risk is assessed and managed throughout the “plan, design, enable” cycle
- ensure our supply chain and partnerships meet our own policy requirements
- monitor our performance against stated objectives and publish the results.
All management systems are maintained to meet and exceed the requirements of our policy statement which aims to achieve OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) across all Atkins’ businesses.
Our commitment to health and safety has been recognised by external organisations over the years, with awards including the British Safety Council Sword of Honour and the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Award for Health, Safety and Well Being.
