Everyone's 2012
The London 2012 Games are not just for the athletes competing, but for everyone in the UK regardless of age, race or ability.
As the official engineering design services provider for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Atkins was eager to participate in the Diversity and Equality week hosted by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).
We invited members of the Paralympic Sailing team (who competed in the Beijing and Athens Games) and a London 2012 Paralympic Games’ dressage hopeful, to visit our London office and participate in an accessibility and inclusion workshop.
One of the greatest challenges our London 2012 project team faces, is to make the Games accessible to all, particularly those with disabilities. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for the team along with some of our graduate engineers to discuss the challenges and learn more about the Paralympic athletes’ requirements, as well as how to deliver a truly accessible event.
