As a leading international provider of services to the built and natural environment, we believe we have an important contribution to make in the tackling of issues such as sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
In addition to our overall commitment to continually improve our performance and comply with relevant legislation, we ensure environmental impact is assessed throughout our projects to prevent pollution, minimise impact and consider opportunities for improvement. We also incorporate sustainability measures into our business operations and continually develop the skills and expertise of our employees in environmental issues.
In our own business operations we have identified the key environmental impacts as:
All of our operations are covered by ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), with the exception of Portugal.
We aim to increase awareness and understanding of environmental sustainability; improving waste and water management; and provide our employees with practical guidance about how to improve environmental performance for offices and sites.
Our CO2 footprint per employee in the UK has barely changed over the last year, rising very slightly from 2,974kg in 2006/07 to 2,978kg of CO2 in 2007/08.
