Event details

The Big Bang Fair (15th -18th March) will show young people (primarily aged 7-19) the exciting and rewarding opportunities available to them with the right experience and qualifications. The event will bring classroom learning to life, through theatre shows, workshops and interactive stands. All this in the hope that it will spark that initial intrigue, setting the future generation on the path to a plethora of exciting career opportunities.

This year, Atkins’ theme will centre around “smart cities and innovative solutions”. Visitors can expect a number exciting interactive activities and to learn about the wide variety of projects an engineer or scientist could work on.

For example, the attendees will have to battle against the clock and the rising tides in the Lego flood game, teaching youngsters strategies that Smart Cities are implementing.

The Big Bang fair is just one of the many ways Atkins encourages young people to pursue careers in science and engineering. We have great confidence in the next generation of engineering talent:

  • We have over 150 STEM ambassadors who visit schools around the UK to give talks and hold workshops. To find out more about your STEM Hub click here.
  • We currently employ 251 apprentices and 834 graduates across the UK.
  • Atkins provides 2 days a year which employees can use for STEM activities, so get involved!
