News releases 2015

Atkins will be exhibiting at the Power-Gen conference at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates, from 4-6 October.

The Atkins stand (F6) will showcase the full multidisciplinary expertise that the company brings to the international power and renewables industries, as well as highlighting Atkins’ nuclear know-how.

The new future energies team will be on hand to demonstrate how Atkins is bringing its global knowledge and experience to the Middle East market, helping clients in the region to stay at the forefront of the power sector through learning and sharing of international best practice.

Phil Malem, managing director for Atkins’ Power and Renewables division, said: “Our Energy business in the Middle East has grown rapidly over the last 12 months and we are excited to be attending Power-Gen to promote our whole lifecycle capabilities across the power, renewables and nuclear sectors.  The event promises an excellent opportunity to meet current and potential clients from across the region. We have invested in our stand, F6, to help drive awareness of what we can offer and it is in a great location next to the Saudi Electric Company.”

Atkins engineers will showcase the company’s expertise across the power generation sector through three presentations on Monday 5 October:

  • A presentation from Craig Edgar, head of Atkins’ renewables division, will examine energy from waste with a specific focus on the role of advanced thermal treatment technologies, at 9-10.30am
  • David Few, head of project delivery in Atkins’ Power division will guide the audience through a UK perspective on the commercialisation of carbon capture and storage at 2-3.30pm
  • In the technical track stream of sessions, Tom Speirs, chief engineer in Atkins’ Power division will look at the strategic asset management of ageing thermal plants at 2-3.30pm.
