Atkins’ nuclear business is exhibiting and presenting at the WM2016 Conference in Phoenix, Arizona from 6-10 March. Atkins will be at stand 744 in the UK village and will use the conference to showcase its full cycle nuclear capabilities with a particular focus on decommissioning, life extension work and US services.

    • Martin Grant, CEO of Atkins’ Energy business will discuss decommissioning in the UK as part of session 13 on Monday 7 March in Room 105AB. This session will look at the challenges associated with decommissioning and clean-up activities at legacy nuclear sites in the UK and will provide a US perspective. Martin will be joined by speakers from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Sellafield Ltd, Office for Nuclear Regulation, National Nuclear Laboratory and the US DOE. Martin will also make a keynote speech at the UKTI hosted dinner event on Monday evening.

    • Julianne Antrobus, Atkins’ nuclear business development & strategy director, will take part in a panel session discussing the contrasting approaches between the US Department of Energy and the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, in session 34 on Tuesday 8 March. The panel will aim to provide an understanding of what has worked well and what challenges there are ahead for clean-up and decommissioning in the two markets. Other speakers will include the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, US DOE, CH2M, Fluor and National Nuclear Laboratory.

Nigel Thornton, North America nuclear director, said; “This is the must attend event for us in the US nuclear market and we’re looking forward to being back at the conference this year. It’s highly specialised technologies are a differentiator for Atkins within the nuclear market.
