Dr Bill Huang, Atkins’ director in China, has taken on the role of leading the newly formed Atkins China Desk. In this role, Bill will be the first point of contact for all of Atkins’ Chinese clients looking to enter the UK development and construction market.

Bill is a chartered engineer and holds a PhD in construction management from the University of Reading in the UK. Over the years, Bill has worked with design firms, construction contractors, real estate developers, management consultancies, research institutions, and UK and Chinese governments to help them get the most from their investments. He has extensive experience in the construction, engineering, rail, and aviation sectors, and has worked with major international clients such as Greenland, Wanda, China State, and Vanke.

The establishment of the Atkins China Desk will allow Chinese clients to access Atkins’ deep knowledge and understanding of the UK and Chinese development and construction market through a single point of contact who can help them navigate the UK market.

Bill said: “I’m delighted to take on the Atkins China Desk role. Having worked in both the UK and China, I have a deep understanding of the nuances and requirements of both countries, and can act as a bridge between them for our clients. Working closely with colleagues in the UK, I can provide a hands on, tailored service for our Chinese clients looking to enter or expand their presence in the UK development and construction market.”

Janet Miller, Atkins' market director for cities & development in the UK, said: “The UK is a great prospect for Chinese investors and developers. Having Bill and the Atkins China Desk in place will help our Chinese clients access the great opportunities across the UK for urban development and infrastructure investment.”
