Atkins appoints UK property development director for cities - 28 October 2016
Atkins, one of the world's most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies, has appointed Mark Powell as its property development director for cities.
In his new role, Mark will be responsible for engaging with Atkins’ public and private sector clients, advising on their development strategies and delivery plans.
On joining Atkins, Mark said: “This is an exciting time for property and development, not only in London, but in all of the UK. As we face uncertainties around Brexit and the new government’s priorities, it is imperative we make the most of our current development investments, ensuring they add real value and actively improve our cities for their inhabitants. I believe in my new role I’ll be able to make a real difference, working with Atkins’ clients to ensure every penny spent generates value for owners, operators and communities.”
Mark joins Atkins from Dunnhumby, a Tesco subsidiary, where for six years he managed the company’s portfolio of commercial properties across the globe. Originally from an architectural background, Mark has extensive experience in the property world, including eight years as Harrods Group’s development director, and five years managing the London Stock Exchange’s property portfolio.
Property and development is a key focus and growth area for Atkins. With work including the sustainability targets for Old Oak Common and the residential development at Southall, the company is set to make its mark in the property and development world.
