News releases 2017

Atkins is bringing its offshore wind design and engineering expertise to the Offshore Wind Executive Summit in Houston, Texas on 9-10 August. The event is focused on the parallels between the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors, bringing together decision makers from both industries to discuss diversification, opportunities and what success looks like.

Jim Byrne, project manager in the Houston renewables team, will take part in a session looking at the industry demands for offshore wind engineering and design alongside speakers from Trelleborg Offshore, the US Department of Energy and the University of Maine. This session will focus on innovation and how technical improvements are driving down cost, particularly around foundation options.

Jim has worked with several domestic and international companies in the marine, oil & gas, and offshore renewable sectors. His experience ranges from product development, design, construction, transportation, and installation and his lies in engineering and project management of floating systems, primarily semisubmersibles and tension leg platforms. In recent years, Jim has been involved in several floating wind projects in the US and international markets.
