Atkins, one of the world’s leading design, engineering and project management consultancies, has hired David Dodson as project director to manage transportation projects in the Reno, Nevada, area.

Dodson will draw from past civil design and construction experience on major projects in the region to help further the firm’s work with public sector clients at every level of government, as well as with private sector clients.

“David has worked on a variety of alternative delivery projects as either a project manager, design manager or project engineer,” said Roger Philippi, Atkins’ Southwest Transportation division manager. “His experience and strong relationships with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, and other key agencies, will aid in our continued delivery of quality transportation systems to communities in the area.”

Dodson’s 19-year career includes roadway design, quality control, and preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for roadway projects. His assignments have ranged from rehabilitation and reconstruction to capacity improvements and new facilities. Prior to joining Atkins, Dodson spent eight years with CH2M, heading their Reno Transportation Group as an operations leader and project manager.

A licensed professional engineer, Dodson is registered in Nevada and Utah. He serves in Atkins’ Department of Transportation business unit and is based in Atkins’ Reno office.
