Innovative and state of the art foundation design in deeper waters, and the use of big data for structural design will be set out in two presentations at All Energy 2017 exhibition and conference this week on 11 May.

Atkins’ offshore wind business and strategic development manager Una Brosnan will be speaking in the offshore wind session about unlocking innovative foundations for deeper waters. Taking the lead from Atkins’ industry leading work in the floating wind sector, the session will cover other topics including harvesting more wind by going further out to sea, upscaling TLPWIND floating technology and bigger offshore turbines, alongside the revision of DNV GL standards for floating wind turbine structures. This panel will be held from 11-12.30pm on 11 May in the Lomond Auditorium, and has been organised with DNV GL.

Jorge Parra Rodriguez, engineering manager and civil engineer, and Irina Cortizo, mechanical engineer in Atkins’ offshore wind team, will present a session discussing the potential impact of big data on the design of offshore wind structures. Using a case study where data trending and analytics have been used for the concept design of offshore substation platforms (OSP), the presentation will show how efficiently harnessing the right information from the available data is key to support the continued growth of the offshore wind industry and the move towards serialisation, standardisation and lowering the cost of electricity. This presentation will take place at 1.15pm on 11 May.

During both days of the event, Atkins will also be exhibiting its capabilities in the renewable energy industry at Stand P68.
