When the Danish brewery, Carlsberg, moved their production from Valby, an opportunity for a new city area was created.
This new city area, Carlsberg City, is expected to attract a large number of new residents and organisations and thus to create an increased demand for new transport solutions to and from this new city. This has resulted in the construction of a new train station, Carlsberg Station, to serve the increased transportation needs.
Atkins is delivering the design for Carlsberg Station, where the number of passengers is expected to reach the same level as that of Copenhagen Central Station.
Atkins is delivering consultancy services within the rail elements of the project including traction power, signalling systems, safety for surveillance, passenger information, measurements, and environmental surveys. The design and construction work will be carried out in several stages, enabling the nearby S-line to remain operational.
According to the schedule, Carlsberg Station should be brought into use in 2016.
