Carbon reduction

With the world’s leading economies on the fast track to a low carbon future, it’s our role to help our clients understand and prepare for the crucial role of delivering infrastructure in a carbon conscious world.

Carbon critical design

We began our carbon critical design awareness programme in 2008 to encourage senior managers to engage their teams in the role engineers will have to play to deliver a low carbon economy and to transfer knowledge within the business.

During 2011 director of sustainability and former chief executive Keith Clarke delivered the Institution of Civil Engineers’ Brunel International Lecture Series in 11 locations around the world. His lecture entitled, “The Delivery of a Low Carbon Society - Beyond Rhetoric” focused on the role engineers will need to play to address the challenge of climate change.

Being carbon critical in our own operations

Not only are we engaging with our clients and peers to help reduce carbon, it is also important that we are carbon critical in our own operations and performance. We also continue to raise awareness and cut energy in our property portfolio through our RACE campaign.

We have been appointed as the first UK consultancy partner to the Carbon Disclosure Project and will soon be supporting other FTSE listed companies to measure and reduce their carbon emissions. We continue to engage with industry and clients on carbon critical design, resulting in more exemplar projects.
