Defence

About the sector

The Strategic Defence Security Review (SDSR) has highlighted a financial over-commitment of £38bn stretched over the next 10 years. Much of the spend (£20bn) has been attributed to unaffordable plans for new equipment and support. Although measures have been detailed in the SDSR to reduce this liability, the savings in key areas amount to £4.3bn, suggesting that many defence programmes still face an uncertain future.
