Design/projects
Atkins applies technical excellence to deliver fully integrated, multidisciplinary solutions to the most challenging problems within early field developments – concept design and front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, project delivery, project assurance, operations and decommissioning. We have class-leading skills in subsea, fixed and floating structures supported by deep expertise in process, safety, reliability and environmental engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and conductor design.
We have experience of performing a vast variety of multidisciplinary designs ranging from innovative solutions to enable efficient economic development of marginal fields, to deepwater and high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) and ultra HPHT (XHPHT) subsea facility designs, to liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. Additionally we are proud to be at the industry forefront in floating LNG (fLNG) production units, providing expertise in a range of disciplines including detailed quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and CFD studies.
Atkins has developed and had significant experience of employing a concept risk assessment tool which gives us a unique capability to provide early indications of the comparative risks of different development options, and provide a robust basis for concept selection. |

We support our clients throughout the lifecycle of their assets providing high-end consultancy services. Our people work at the forefront of expert developments, delivering technical excellence in all that we do. Our ability to remain at the leading edge is defined by our involvement in many industry initiatives and research, such as our SAFEBUCK JIP which defined our knowledge in pipeline buckling design, and our consulting and emerging technology (CET) business stream which provides a structured environment to consider emerging technologies and innovative solutions. We use this knowledge and expertise together with our assurance and capability to deliver solutions that meet our clients’ business needs.
Assurance
Atkins has a leading technical assurance and verification capability which we readily apply throughout the oil and gas lifecycle. We provide integrity management services, design verification and project assurance. Our asset integrity management business stream focuses on maximising yields from existing facilities by providing class-leading integrity management services encompassing the entire asset – topsides, structural and subsea. |
