Atkins has been awarded a contract by Airbus Germany to design composite components for the inboard flap of the new A350 XWB aircraft.
Atkins China has been appointed by Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation to carry out the detailed design of a key section of their South Island Line (East) project.
Crossrail Ltd has announced its intention to award the Architectural Component contract for all of its stations and associated structures to design and engineering consultancy Atkins. This award covers the design and specification of interior elements such as the wall and ceiling finishes, cladding systems, seating, lighting, and wayfinding.
A new traffic congestion busting system for cities co-designed by Atkins is being introduced by Peterborough City Council. The system called SCOOT monitors vehicle flows and adjusts traffic signals accordingly as congestion levels rise or fall. By increasing the green phasing on routes where traffic is heaviest the system should improve vehicle flows and cut pollution levels.
