Four divisional directors to join Atkins executive team - 01 April 2009

Atkins has appointed four additional directors to its Group executive team. The Group's Water and Environment, Energy, Design and Engineering, and Defence, Aerospace and Communications businesses are now part of the Group executive team.

The directors joining the Group executive team are:

Dr Martin Grant – managing director, Energy
Graham Roberts – managing director, Water and Environment
Dr Paul Dollin – managing director, Design and Engineering
Dr Geoff Robins – managing director, Defence, Aerospace and Communications.

Keith Clarke, chief executive, Atkins said: “These businesses are now strong enough in their own right to exist as separate divisions within the Atkins Group. The growth they have shown in recent years has been impressive and justifies them having representation around the Group executive team table.”

Dr Martin Grant has been with Atkins since 1984. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and has been presented with the Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal. His career with Atkins has been broad based, covering work in the oil and gas industry, the nuclear industry, and an assignment to the Channel Tunnel project.

Graham Roberts joined Atkins in 1986.  He has a degree from Nottingham University in maths with engineering, and is a chartered mechanical engineer. During his career at Atkins he has established the Telecoms business, and led major growth in the defence business. Graham also chairs Atkins’ diversity steering committee and is a Pension Fund Trustee.

Dr Paul Dollin joined Atkins in 1999 and is a chartered engineer with a PhD in materials science.  In his early career he worked in the nuclear sector for British Energy, and has since gained experience in both the public and private realms in areas such as education, property and power.

Dr Geoff Robins has a PhD in physics from Liverpool University, and began his career working for the UK Government. He has over 25 years’ experience in consulting and began his Atkins career in 2007 as a result of the acquisition of Advantage Business Group where he was managing director. Advantage is now a fully integrated part of the Atkins Defence, Aerospace and Communications business.
